Social Worker – Children’s Services
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a Children’s Services team.
The successful candidate will work with children, young people and families to assess needs, manage risk and provide effective social work interventions. You will be responsible for managing a caseload and working collaboratively with families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes and ensure children remain safe and supported.
Key Responsibilities

Manage an allocated caseload of children and families.

Undertake high-quality assessments and identify strengths, needs and risks.

Develop and implement effective plans to improve outcomes for children.

Undertake Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) work.

Complete statutory visits and ensure children's needs and welfare remain central to practice.

Assess and manage safeguarding risks appropriately.

Build positive and professional relationships with children, young people, parents and carers.

Ensure children's wishes, feelings and lived experiences inform assessments and decision-making.

Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police and other partner agencies.

Participate in strategy discussions, child protection conferences, core groups and review meetings where required.

Prepare clear and accurate reports, assessments and case records.

Where appropriate, contribute to Public Law Outline (PLO) and care proceedings.

Maintain accurate case records in accordance with statutory and local authority requirements.

Participate in supervision, team meetings, training and continuing professional development.

Work in accordance with relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures and professional standards.
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for candidates who have:

A recognised Social Work qualification.

Current Social Work England registration.
-
Previous experience working within Children’s Services.

Strong knowledge of children’s safeguarding and relevant legislation.

Experience undertaking assessments and managing complex caseloads.

Experience in CIN and Child Protection practice.

Strong risk assessment and analytical skills.
-
Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.

The ability to work independently and effectively within a multi-agency environment.

A child-centred, strengths-based approach to social work.

Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
