SEND Officer

We are looking for a dedicated, organised and compassionate SEND Officer to join our team and play a key role in supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

About the Role
As SEND Officer, you will work closely with the SENDCO, teaching staff, pupils, parents/carers and external professionals to ensure that appropriate support and provision is in place for pupils with SEND.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the effective coordination and administration of SEND provision.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date SEND records, documentation and databases.
- Liaising with parents and carers, responding to queries and helping to build positive relationships.
- Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to monitor pupils' progress and support needs.
- Coordinating meetings, reviews and appointments relating to SEND provision.
- Supporting the preparation and review of SEND-related documentation, including Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where appropriate.
- Liaising with external agencies and professionals to support pupils' needs.
- Helping to ensure that SEND policies, procedures and statutory requirements are followed.
- Contributing to an inclusive environment in which every pupil is valued and supported.
- Providing general administrative support to the SEND team as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of working in an education, SEND or administrative environment.
- Has a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs.
- Is highly organised and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Is confident working with a range of professionals, parents/carers and pupils.
- Has strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
- Is able to work independently while also contributing positively to a wider team.
- Has a calm, patient and approachable manner.
Experience of working with SEND legislation, EHCPs, safeguarding procedures or school information systems would be advantageous, although full details of the essential and desirable criteria are outlined in the person specification.
