    Location: Families For All Hub, 454 Foleshill Road, Coventry, CV6 5LB
    Pay Rate: £28.55 per hour UMB (in line with MOU)
    Working Pattern: Hybrid / Office-based
    Contract: Locum

    About the Role

    We are currently seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Help and Protection – Families For All Hub in Coventry.

    The successful candidate will work with adults, children and families, providing timely assessment, safeguarding support and direct interventions to individuals and families with often complex and evolving needs.

    You will work collaboratively with families, colleagues and partner agencies to assess risk, promote safety and wellbeing, and ensure appropriate support and interventions are put in place.

    Working Arrangements

    The service operates a duty system, with social workers being on duty approximately 1 week in 4.

    • The service is predominantly office-based.
    • During your duty week, you will be required to work from the office for the full week.
    • Outside of duty weeks, 1 day per week working from home can be arranged.
    • The role requires flexibility to respond to safeguarding concerns and urgent requests for support.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Work with adults, children and families in accordance with relevant legislation, national guidance and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Undertake complex assessments and provide appropriate social work support and interventions.
    • Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns and requests for professional advice and support.
    • Manage incoming calls and requests relating to safeguarding, including situations involving vulnerable individuals and complex circumstances where safety or liberty may be at risk.
    • Work collaboratively with children, families and partner agencies to develop clear risk management plans and safeguard individuals.
    • Deliver direct support and purposeful interventions to children and families.
    • Liaise and work jointly with colleagues and professionals from other agencies.
    • Where required, provide instructions to legal services and represent the service within Court proceedings.
    • Apply relevant legislation, social work theory, policies and procedures confidently and independently.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with departmental requirements, CCC IT systems and Data Protection/Information Governance policies.
    • Contribute to meetings, reports and professional discussions both verbally and in writing.
    • Maintain professional standards and develop practice through supervision, training and continuing professional development.
    • Contribute positively to the ongoing development and improvement of the service.
    • Attend relevant training courses as required.
    • Work towards agreed performance objectives and personal development targets established through supervision.

    Core Knowledge & Skills

    The successful candidate will have:

    • Strong knowledge of relevant children's and adults' social care legislation, guidance and national standards.
    • An understanding of safeguarding, risk management and multi-agency working.
    • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures relating to Children's Services, Housing, Adults' Social Care and Youth Justice.
    • The ability to undertake complex assessments and make sound professional judgements.
    • Strong communication, analytical and report-writing skills.
    • The ability to work independently and manage complex and potentially urgent safeguarding situations.
    • Experience working collaboratively with families, colleagues and external agencies.
    • The ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively to changing circumstances.
    • A commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining high professional standards.

    Candidate Requirements

    • Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional experience.
    • Previous experience within children's social care, safeguarding, help and protection or family services.
    • Experience managing complex assessments and safeguarding concerns.
    • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies and social work practice.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team.
    • Confident working independently and making professional decisions within agreed management arrangements.
    • Excellent record-keeping and case management skills.
    • Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
    • Ability to work from the Coventry office as required, including full-time attendance during duty weeks.
