Children's Social Worker – Prevention & Intervention Team
Location: North West Local Authority
Rate: Competitive Hourly Rate
Contract: Full Time | Ongoing Contract
Working Pattern: Hybrid Working Available
Make a Difference Earlier
We are looking for an experienced Children's Social Worker to join an innovative Prevention & Intervention Team, working within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) as part of an exciting Social Work Reform programme.
This is an opportunity to work differently—bringing together professionals from across children's services to provide earlier, more effective support to families. The team bridges Early Help and Children in Need/Child Protection (CIN/CP), ensuring families receive the right support at the right time and reducing the need for statutory intervention wherever possible.
About the Role
Working within a collaborative MDT, you will support children and families whose needs sit between Early Help and statutory social work. You'll complete assessments, develop strengths-based plans, coordinate multi-agency interventions and deliver purposeful direct work that helps keep children safely within their families whenever possible.
You'll work alongside a range of professionals, sharing expertise and creating joined-up plans that improve outcomes for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of children and families requiring targeted support.
- Complete Child and Family Assessments and develop outcome-focused plans.
- Undertake Children in Need and Child Protection work where appropriate.
- Work closely with Early Help practitioners to prevent escalation wherever safe to do so.
- Build positive relationships with children, young people and their families through meaningful direct work.
- Attend and contribute to CIN, Child Protection, Core Group and multi-agency meetings.
- Work collaboratively within a Multi-Disciplinary Team, sharing knowledge and coordinating interventions.
- Identify risk, analyse need and make evidence-based decisions to safeguard children.
- Maintain accurate, timely and high-quality case recordings in line with statutory requirements.
- Promote positive outcomes through restorative and strengths-based practice.
About You
We are looking for a qualified Social Worker who has:
- Social Work England registration.
- Experience within Children's Services.
- Knowledge of Children in Need, Child Protection and Early Help.
- Strong assessment, safeguarding and relationship-based practice skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with partner agencies.
- Excellent communication, organisational and report-writing skills.
- A passion for achieving positive outcomes for children and families through early intervention.
Why Join This Team?
- Be part of an innovative Social Work Reform programme.
- Work within a supportive Multi-Disciplinary Team.
- Opportunity to influence early intervention and prevention services.
- Hybrid working available.

- £250 Refer a Friend bonus.
