Personal Advisor (PA) – Care Leavers
Supporting Independence Team | Cheshire West and Chester
We are recruiting an experienced and passionate Personal Advisor to join the Supporting Independence Team within Cheshire West and Chester.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people leaving care by providing the support, advice, guidance and encouragement they need to develop their independence and thrive into adulthood.
The Role
As a Personal Advisor, you will provide an individualised, outcome-focused service to young people who are legally defined as care leavers.
Working directly with each young person, you will:

Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with care leavers.

Assess and understand their individual needs, strengths, aspirations and goals.

Work collaboratively with young people to develop pathway plans and identify achievable next steps.

Provide practical advice, guidance and support to help young people live independently.

Support young people with areas such as education, employment, housing, finances, health and wellbeing.

Help care leavers develop the confidence, resilience and practical skills required for adulthood.

Advocate for young people and ensure their voice, wishes and aspirations remain central to planning.

Work alongside other professionals and agencies to ensure young people receive appropriate support.

Monitor progress and review plans to ensure support remains focused on achieving positive outcomes.

Empower young people to make informed decisions and realise their full potential.

The Supporting Independence Team works with care leavers across the Cheshire West and Chester area.
The role covers:
📍 Ellesmere Port
📍 Chester
📍 Winsford
📍 Northwich
📍 Surrounding areas
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:

Experienced in working with young people or care leavers.

Passionate about supporting young people to achieve independence.

Confident building positive and meaningful professional relationships.

Able to assess needs and develop outcome-focused support plans.

Knowledgeable about the challenges faced by young people transitioning from care to adulthood.

Able to advocate effectively for young people.
-
Organised and able to manage their own caseload.
-
Confident working with partner agencies and within a multi-agency environment.

A strong communicator with good written and verbal communication skills.
-
Resilient, compassionate and committed to achieving positive outcomes.
-
Able to travel throughout the local authority area.

A car driver with access to a vehicle.
Working Arrangements
Main office: The Portal, Ellesmere Port
Working pattern: Hybrid – combination of office and home working
Travel: Required across Cheshire West and Chester
