Social Worker – Young People’s Safeguarding

📍 Location: Sand Martin House, Bittern Way, Peterborough
💰 Rate: £39 per hour / £288.60 per day (Umbrella)
🏢 Working Pattern: 2–3 days per week in the office

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Social Worker – Young People’s Safeguarding to join a dedicated safeguarding team in Peterborough.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled social worker with strong safeguarding experience who is confident working directly with young people and families.

Key Responsibilities

The successful Social Worker will be responsible for:

• Managing a varied caseload involving Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP) and Children in Care (CIC).
• Undertaking high-quality assessments and developing effective plans to safeguard and support young people.
• Carrying out purposeful direct work with young people and families.
• Responding to safeguarding concerns and assessing risk.
• Working collaboratively with families, young people and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
• Managing complex cases and ensuring children and young people remain at the centre of all decision-making.
• Maintaining accurate and timely case records in line with statutory requirements.
• Contributing to effective multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.

Essential Experience

 IMPORTANT – EXPLOITATION EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL

Candidates must have previous experience working with exploitation cases.

Anyone submitted without relevant exploitation experience will be rejected.

The successful candidate will also have:

• A recognised Social Work qualification.
• Current Social Work England registration.
• Strong experience within children’s social care and safeguarding.
• Experience working with CIN, CP and/or CIC.
• Experience undertaking direct work with young people and families.
• Strong assessment, risk management and safeguarding skills.
• The ability to manage a complex caseload effectively.
