Family Support Worker
St Helens | Children’s Social Care | Full-Time
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Family Support Worker to support qualified Social Workers in helping, protecting and supporting children, young people and families involved with Children’s Social Care.
The Role
You will work intensively with families in their homes and communities, providing practical support, targeted interventions and supervised Family Time. You will help reduce risk, build family resilience and ensure children’s voices and needs remain central to all work.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Social Workers with assessments, care planning and case management.
- Deliver practical and targeted intervention programmes with children, young people and parents/carers.
- Undertake intensive home visits and outreach work with families who may be difficult to engage.
- Facilitate and supervise Family Time/contact, including evenings and weekends.
- Maintain accurate case records and contribute to reports for meetings, reviews and court.
- Attend and contribute to LAC Reviews, case conferences, Family Action Meetings and other relevant meetings.
- Work closely with Social Workers, schools, health, police and other partner agencies.
- Monitor family progress and contribute to achieving positive outcomes for children.
- Promote positive relationships between children, their families, schools and communities.
About You
You will have experience working with children, young people and families, ideally within a statutory children’s social care environment. You should be confident working with complex and challenging families, undertaking home visits and delivering practical interventions.
Enhanced DBS and relevant safeguarding experience required.
The role requires flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as part of a Family Time rota, with work taking place across St Helens.
