Employment Solicitor
We Do Social Work is looking for an experienced and motivated Employment Solicitor to join a legal team and take responsibility for a varied caseload of primarily employment law matters.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who is confident working independently, has strong advocacy skills and is committed to providing high-quality legal advice and client service.
The Role
As an Employment Solicitor, you will manage a caseload of primarily employment law matters, working largely independently and taking responsibility for progressing cases from instruction through to completion in accordance with good legal practice and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of primarily employment law matters, ensuring all aspects of each case are progressed effectively and in accordance with good legal practice.
- Provide high-quality legal advice and support to clients, maintaining a strong focus on client service.
- Represent the organisation at the Employment Tribunal, including advocacy at preliminary hearings.
- Appear, when required, in other courts and tribunals, including the Magistrates' Court and SEND Tribunal.
- Instruct Counsel where appropriate and assist Counsel with the preparation and presentation of cases.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case management information and legal records.
- Undertake time recording and contribute to effective monitoring of the Litigation Team budget.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Law Society professional standards for solicitors, where applicable.
- Follow organisational policies, procedures, rules and professional requirements.
- Contribute to the effective delivery and continuous improvement of the legal service.
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the role as required.
About You
We are looking for a qualified solicitor with experience in employment law and the ability to manage a caseload with a high degree of independence.
You will ideally have:
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of employment law.
- Experience managing your own caseload from instruction through to resolution.
- Experience of Employment Tribunal proceedings and advocacy, particularly preliminary hearings.
- The ability to represent clients confidently and professionally.
- Experience instructing and working effectively with Counsel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- A strong commitment to professional standards, client service and confidentiality.
- An understanding of the importance of accurate case management, record keeping and time recording.
