EHCP Writer – Join Our SEND Team

Are you an experienced EHCP Writer with a strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

We are looking for a skilled and committed EHCP Writer to join our team and support the development of high-quality, person-centred Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children and young people.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has strong writing and analytical skills, understands the EHCP process and is passionate about ensuring children and young people receive appropriate support to achieve positive outcomes.

The Role

As an EHCP Writer, you will be responsible for producing clear, accurate and person-centred EHCP documentation based on information gathered from children and young people, families, schools and professionals.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Writing and reviewing high-quality EHCPs and associated documentation.
• Reviewing and analysing information from education, health and social care professionals.
• Accurately identifying and summarising a child or young person's strengths, needs and aspirations.
• Developing clear, meaningful and measurable outcomes.
• Ensuring recommended provision is clearly linked to identified needs and outcomes.
• Liaising with parents, carers, schools and external professionals to gather relevant information.
• Supporting the EHCP assessment and review process.
• Contributing to annual reviews and amendments where required.
• Ensuring EHCP documentation is clear, consistent, accurate and person-centred.
• Managing an allocated caseload and working to agreed deadlines.
• Maintaining accurate and confidential records.
• Ensuring work is completed in accordance with relevant SEND legislation, guidance and organisational procedures.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience writing, coordinating or contributing to EHCPs/EHC Plans.
• A strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the EHCP process.
• Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
• The ability to interpret and synthesise complex information from multiple sources.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working collaboratively with families and professionals.
• A commitment to person-centred planning and improving outcomes for children and young people.

Experience within local authority SEND services, education, special educational needs, social care, health or specialist education would be advantageous.
