Senior Social Worker / Senior Practitioner – Children & Families MASH
Team: Children & Families – Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)
Contract: 3-Month Locum Assignment
Rate: £39.04 per hour Umbrella/LTD
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker / Senior Practitioner to join a Children & Families Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) team on a 3-month locum assignment.
The successful candidate will have strong and recent MASH experience, with the ability to work confidently within a fast-paced, multi-agency safeguarding environment. You will be responsible for assessing information, identifying risk and vulnerability, and ensuring appropriate safeguarding responses are put in place for children and families.
Key Responsibilities

Undertake safeguarding referrals, screening and assessments within the MASH environment.

Gather and analyse information from multiple agencies to assess risk and vulnerability.

Make professional recommendations and decisions regarding safeguarding and appropriate intervention.

Work closely with police, health, education, social care and other partner agencies.

Respond to safeguarding concerns within required statutory timescales.

Undertake assessments and determine appropriate next steps for children and families.

Provide professional advice and guidance to colleagues and partner agencies.

Participate in multi-agency meetings, strategy discussions and professional consultations.

Manage complex and sensitive safeguarding information effectively.

Maintain accurate and timely case records and documentation.

Ensure children’s wishes, feelings, safety and wellbeing remain central to decision-making.

Work in accordance with relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures and local authority policies.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate must have:

A recognised Social Work qualification.

Current Social Work England registration.

Recent and demonstrable MASH experience – ESSENTIAL.

Strong experience within Children’s Social Care and safeguarding.

Experience working within a multi-agency safeguarding environment.

Strong assessment, analytical and risk-management skills.

Excellent communication and professional decision-making abilities.

Ability to manage a demanding workload in a fast-paced environment.

Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
